What is Lodestone?
Lodestone is a personal finance app that shows you where you actually stand, not just what your bank balance says. It looks at the cash you have today, your spending, the subscriptions quietly renewing in the background, and the bills still to come - and works out how much is genuinely free to spend, once everything else is accounted for. It's less about tracking every penny and more about answering one question honestly: how much money do I actually have available?
Why Lodestone exists
Most people already have a banking app, and plenty have tried a budgeting app or a spreadsheet on top of that - and still end up asking the same thing: how much money do I actually have available? I built Lodestone because I was one of those people. Despite a banking app, a budgeting app and a spreadsheet, I still couldn't answer that question with any real confidence. A balance on its own doesn't answer it. It doesn't know rent is leaving on Friday, that a subscription renews next week, or that last month's credit card bill hasn't cleared yet. Lodestone exists because that question deserves a straight answer, built from the numbers you already have, without asking you to learn a new system or change how you bank.
Privacy first
Your financial data stays on your device, not on someone else's server, and it's there for one reason: to show you your own numbers clearly. Every figure Lodestone shows you has a clear explanation behind it - nothing is guessed, and nothing is hidden. If a number looks different one day, there's always a straightforward reason, not a black box you have to trust blindly.
Where Lodestone is heading
Lodestone is still early, and there's plenty more to come. Open Banking support is coming, so accounts can update automatically instead of everything being entered by hand. Forecasting will get richer, so you can see further ahead with more confidence. Support for multiple accounts is planned, for anyone whose money doesn't sit in just one place. An iPhone version is coming too. But none of that changes what Lodestone is built on: privacy, clarity, and the confidence that comes from finally trusting your own numbers.
